Lime Mint
4in pot size
Mint (Mentha) is a popular and versatile herb known for its aromatic leaves and various culinary uses.
Flavor and Aroma:
Lime Mint is prized for its citrusy aroma and flavor, resembling a lime, only in mint form.
Leaves:
The leaves are usually small and serrated. The lime scent is released when the leaves are crushed.
Height:
It generally grows to a height of 12 to 24 inches, with a wide spread, spreading habit.
Sunlight:
Lime Mint thrives in partial to full sunlight.
Soil:
Well-draining soil is ideal.
Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist. Mint plants prefer consistently damp soil but not be waterlogged.
Temperature:
Lime Mint is very hardy. It appreciates a cooler environment and will benefit from some shade during summer heat.
Fertilizing:
Not a heavy feeder. A balanced, all-purpose fertilizer sufficient.
Container Growing:
Consider growing Lime Mint in containers to control its spreading habit. Use a well-draining potting mix.
Pruning:
Regularly pinch back the plant to encourage bushier growth and to maintain a more compact shape.
Companion Planting:
Planting mint near vegetables can help repel pests. Jeep it contained, as mint can become invasive.
