Okinawa Spinach (Gynura bicolor)

Okinawa Spinach is a low growing low maintenance tender perennial leaf vegetable. Relatively pest-free. The shinny leaves are green on top and purple underneath. Thriving in warm and humid conditions; protect from frost.

Sunlight:
Plant in a location with partial to full sunlight. Okinawa Spinach prefers bright, indirect light but can tolerate some direct sunlight.

Soil:
Well-draining, rich soil is ideal. A soil mix with organic matter can promote healthy growth.

Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist. Water when the top inch of soil feels dry. Okinawa Spinach appreciates regular watering but can tolerate brief periods of drought.

Spacing:
Provide adequate spacing between plants to allow for good air circulation. This helps prevent fungal diseases.

Fertilizing:
Feed with a balanced, all-purpose fertilizer during the growing season. Okinawa Spinach benefits from regular fertilization to support leafy growth.

Pruning:
Pinch back the tips regularly to encourage bushier growth. Harvesting the leaves also serves as a form of pruning and promotes continuous production.

Harvesting:
Harvest leaves when they reach a desirable size. Regular harvesting encourages new growth and prevents the plant from becoming too leggy.

Pests and Diseases:
Okinawa Spinach is relatively pest-resistant. Keep an eye out for aphids or spider mites, and treat promptly if needed.
