Aji Charapita Pepper
Description:
The Aji Charapita peppers are small and fiery-hot chili pepper. This pepper originates from the Amazon rainforest region in Peru. Known for its intense heat and sought-after fruity flavor. The pepper is rare and can be difficult to find, making it a desirable ingredient among culinary enthusiasts and chefs. Often used to add spiciness and flavor to various dishes, sauces, and condiments.
Planting:
Peppers prefer well-draining soil.
Sunlight:
Provide full sunlight for at least 6-8 hours a day. Peppers thrive in warm temperatures.
Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist but not waterlogged. Water deeply, and mulch around plants to retain moisture and suppress weeds.
Fertilizing:
Use a balanced fertilizer at planting, and side-dress with additional fertilizer during the growing season. Avoid excessive nitrogen, which can lead to more foliage and fewer fruits.
Support:
Some pepper varieties may benefit from staking or caging, especially if they bear heavy fruits.
Pruning:
While not necessary, pruning can encourage more compact growth and better airflow. Pinch off the tips when plants are around 6-8 inches tall to encourage branching.
Pests and Diseases:
Watch for common pests like aphids and caterpillars. Use insecticidal soap if needed. Proper spacing and good air circulation can help prevent diseases.
Harvesting:
Harvest peppers when they reach the desired size and color. Regular harvesting encourages more fruit.
