Catnip (Nepeta cataria)

Catnip is a short lived perennial. The leaves are soft to the touch and the herb exudes a strong aroma when touched. Most cats love this herb! Catnip is a fragrant herb known for its attraction to cats and its uses in traditional medicine and culinary applications.
Foliage:
Catnip has gray-green, heart-shaped leaves with a serrated edge. The leaves are aromatic and contain a compound that has a euphoric response in cats.
Height:
It typically grows to a height of 2 to 3 feet, forming a bushy plant.
Flowers:
Catnip produces small, white or lavender flowers on spikes that attract pollinators.
Sunlight:
Plant in a location with full to partial sunlight. Catnip prefers well-lit areas but can tolerate some shade, especially in warmer climates.
Soil:
Well-draining, loamy, fertile soil is ideal.
Watering:
Keep the soil consistently moist, especially during dry periods. Avoid waterlogged conditions because it can lead to root rot.
Spacing:
Provide 1 to 2 feet spacing between plants to allow for good air circulation.
Fertilizing:
Catnip is not a heavy feeder. A balanced, all-purpose fertilizer applied in spring is fine.
Pruning:
Regularly prune to maintain shape and encourage bushier growth.
Harvesting:
Harvest leaves and flowers for various uses. The leaves can be dried for cat toys or herbal teas.

At this time we are not able to fulfill orders outside of the U.S. due to agriculture regulations.
We also do not ship to Hawaii or Alaska because of their distance from our nursery and the sensitive nature of the plants we ship.
