Aloe Vere
Description:
Aloe is a succulent plant known for its thick, fleshy, green to bluish-green leaves that grow in a rosette pattern. Many species have serrated edges with small white teeth. The most well-known species, Aloe vera, is prized for its medicinal gel used in skincare and healing. Some species produce tall flower spikes with tubular yellow, orange, or red blooms.
Growing Conditions:
Light:
Prefers bright, indirect sunlight or partial shade. Can tolerate full sun but may scorch in intense heat.
Soil:
Well-draining, sandy or cactus potting mix. Avoid heavy, water-retentive soil.
Watering:
Drought-tolerant; water deeply but allow soil to dry out completely between waterings. Overwatering leads to root rot.
Temperature:
Thrives in warm climates (55–80°F / 13–27°C). Not frost-hardy—bring indoors if temperatures drop below 50°F (10°C).
Humidity:
Prefers dry conditions; does not require high humidity.
Fertilizer:
Minimal feeding; use a diluted succulent fertilizer once in spring and summer.
Aloes are low-maintenance and ideal for indoor or outdoor xeriscaping gardens.
